Mary Jane Burnet Mallard was born in Rockdale, Texas on July 21, 1913 to Margaret and Charles Burnet. She died peacefully on February 13, 2008. Mary Jane was married for over 60 years to James Bonner Mallard. He preceded her in death. They shared a great life with a love of golf and travel. She had developed a great interest in Mexico while in school there and they spent many happy winters in Acapulco. She was a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and was a former math teacher who taught for many years at St. John's school in Houston, Texas. Mary Jane had lived over 40 years on Lake LBJ. She was a wonderful aunt and is survived by her niece, Linda Butler and husband, Russ; great-niece, Elizabeth Butler Santos; great-nephews, Michael Richards Butler and James Mallard Butler; and great-great nieces, Marcella and Isabel Santos and Elisabeth and Mary Katherine Butler; and many cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23rd at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 8724 Travis Hills Dr, Austin.
