It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jacobs on August 30th, 2024 at the age of 97 surrounded by loved ones. Mary was born on July 3rd, 1927 in Hostyn, Tx to George and Vlasta Rainosek. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and catholic faith. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens she loved so dearly. She is back in the arms of her cherished husband Joe F Jacobs and son Joe D Jacobs.
Mary was raised with her siblings (Clara Rainosek Vinklarek, Marcella Rainosek, Beatrice Rainosek Vyvjala, Theresa Zezulka) and brother (Frank Rainosek Sr) on a working farm in Smithville, Tx. They raised cattle, chickens, grew pecans, and vegetable crops that sustained their family and sold to local grocery stores. Mary attended catholic school, where she developed her faith and values that would guide her throughout her life. At the age of 17, she moved to Austin and worked at a telephone company for 5 years. On July 5th, 1947 she married the love of her life, Joe, with whom she shared 61 years of love, laughter, and companionship. After the birth of their son, she stayed home and was a dedicated homemaker, tending to her family.
She was known for her delicious home cooked meals and welcoming hospitality. The home was always open to family and friends, and she took pride in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all who entered. She took pride in her faith, attending church every Sunday at St Ignatius Church. She also took pride in gardening, spending hours tending to her flowers and vegetables with care and dedication. In addition to her love of gardening, Mary had a fondness for garage sales always on the lookout for hidden treasures and unique finds. Mary was a beloved member of her neighborhood, known for her warm smile and kind heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and bring her delicious pies to her Ford St friends. The neighborhood kids always knew where to go get candy and spare change.
Mary is survived by her granddaughter, Robin Jacobs, her great-granddaughters, Haley Jacobs and KateLyn Gunderson, sister Theresa Zezulka and nieces and nephews.
Her granddaughter, Robin wants to extend her heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heart to Heart for their exceptional care and support. Their dedication and kindness will forever hold a special place in her heart.
