Mary Helen "Toots" Mendez Krampota

Our beloved mother, Mary Helen “Toots” Mendez Krampota, age 85 of Austin, Texas was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, July 28th, 2023. Mary was born on September 25, 1937 to Eloy and Elena Mendez. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a very generous, compassionate, and loving person.

She was particularly skilled as a waitress for many years and made the best tamales. Through her gifts and talents she won the hearts of many with her cooking.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jodie Krampota; daughter, Melissa Kay; brother, Albert Mendez; sisters, Josephine, Maggie, Ofelia, and Olga; In-laws, Ida, Laverne, And Sonny; and her two special best friends, Mary Foster and Maxine Taylor.

She leaves behind her devoted children; her daughters, Bea (Rick), and Terry (Louis); her sons, Frank (Phyllis) and Jodie (Carla); loving grandchildren, Erika (Lymari), Elena (Armando), Melissa, Orlando, Samantha, Jodie III, Danielle, Amanda, and Richi; adoring great-grandchildren, Christian Rey, Noah, Ryan, Alycia (John), Armando Jr., Luca, and Donovan; sisters, Oralia, Carrie, Hortensia, and Lena; brother, Eloy Mendez Jr. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She will be missed dearly and will be forever in our hearts.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be her sons, Frank and Jodie; grandsons, Orlando and Jodie III; great-grandsons, Christian Rey and Noah. Honorary pallbearer will be her great-grandson, Ryan.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, August 13, 2023, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1206 E 9th St, Austin, Texas 78702. Once services have concluded the family would like for you to join them in fellowship for a reception at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall.
