Mary was born in West Point, Texas on November 22, 1930, she was the daughter of Roy Owen and Middie Reeves Owen. Mary's father Roy passed away when Mary was very young. Mary's mother Middie remarried Charles "Churchie Boy" Rush. Mary formed a strong bond with Churchie Boy. Mary often spoke about Churchie Boy and how much she loved him. Middie and Churchie Boy raised Mary and her sister, Lavene in Burnet, Texas. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High school in Austin, Texas. Mary had many fond memories of her time at St. Mary's and made lifelong friends. Mary married and had five children. When Mary's marriage ended she started her new chapter of life in Austin, Texas. Middie and Churchie Boy moved to Austin to help Mary. Together Mary, Middie and Churchie Boy made a great team. The house we lived in on Gem Circle was full of laughter, love and wonderful chaos. Mary worked at BF Goodrich many years. When Mary's mother Middie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her condition worsened Mary retired early to care for her mother. Mary worked as an activity director assistant at the nursing home Middie was at so she could be close to her mother. Mary's greatest joy was being a mother. She devoted her life to her children. Mary wanted her children to have strong Catholic values and all of her children went to St. Ignatius Catholic School. Mary wanted her children to have fun and enjoy life. Some of the fondest memories were when we all loaded into the station wagon and went on summer vacations together. When Mary's children became adults and she became a grandmother her love for her family grew. Her heart grew larger with each additional grandchild. Mary adored her grandchildren and her grandchildren adored her. Mary's heart grew once again when she became a great grandmother. Mary lived to love her family and we all loved her very much. It is hard to imagine life without Mary but she will forever be in our hearts. We know she is looking down at us and will continue to guide us through life. Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend we know you are at peace now and we will love you forever.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen George.
