Mary Louise Clayton Blundell Mary was born in San Marcos, Texas, to John A. Clayton and Georgie Bell Henson on March 21, 1916. She passed away peacefully in Austin, on June 15, 2008 at the age of 92. Mary received both her undergraduate and Masters Degree in Education from what is now Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She taught for many years at Rosedale School in Austin, Texas, and developed a lifetime friendship with the Rosedale Five. Mary enjoyed teaching the little ones – first and second graders. She was an avid pianist and would accompany the children during their music lessons. Mary also loved to play hymns. Not only did Mary teach art during her years at school, she also volunteered to teach art in her retirement years. She loved colors, as long as they were pink! Roy and Mary owned a cabin on the Cypress in Wimberley, Texas. There they raised peacocks, guinea hens, ducks and geese, a parrot and various dogs. Typical weekend fare would be T-bone steaks, french fries, and pinto beans. There was plenty of time for cooling off on hot summer days submerged in the cold waters of the Cypress. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of many years, Roy; and her only child, John. She is survived by her grandson, Clayton Blundell, her great-grandson, Payton James; her niece, Deborah Koeck of Wimberley; nephew, Charlie Clayton of San Marcos; as well as close friends. A special thanks to the staff of the Retirement and Nursing Center for all their kindnesses over the last several years. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services.
