Martin Sven Isak Linder passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009. He was born in Round Rock, Texas on March 13, 1914 to C. Ernst Linder and Tulie Bengtson Linder. He grew up in Williamson County and graduated from Round Rock High School. In August 1939, Martin married Lillian Carlson of Round Rock, Texas. Martin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After returning from his tour of duty in 1946, he worked for Schumacher Grocery Distributors. In 1948, Martin began a 34-year career as a Sales Representative for Lone Star Paper Company, Inc. After retirement in 1982, Martin Linder Specials was established to provide promotional items to businesses. Throughout his life, Martin participated in the North Austin Lion's Club, serving as President from 1958-1959. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for the Mayfair Dance Club, Waltz Club, Thursday Nighters and Herb's Dance Club. Preceded in death by his wife Lillian Carlson Linder, he is survived by; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Doug Danforth; son and daughter-in-law, Ted Linder and Michelle Just and daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Strickland; grandchildren, Stephanie Danforth Meredith and husband, Bill; Kimberly Danforth Castillo and husband, Orlando; Brandon Linder and wife, Amy; Michelle Linder Ward and husband, Mark; James "Trip" Strickland, Kellie Strickland and Justin Linder and great-grandchildren. Family Visitation will be on Monday, August 24th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Palm Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2500 East Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, Texas, on Tuesday, August 25th at 9:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3525 Bee Cave Road, Austin, Texas at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stephen M. Youngdahl and Rev. Heidi Schwerdtfeger-Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers are James "Trip" Strickland, Justin Linder, Major Bill Meredith, Jr., Orlando L. Castillo, Carl Allen Carlson, James Craig Carlson, Bill Ransom, Don Linder, Ray Linder, Ronnie Linder, Arlon A. Bindseil and Robert L. Cook. The family gratefully acknowledges the heartfelt care given by Richard E. Helmer, III, M.D., Raymond Paxton, M.D. and Johnny W. Shriver, D.D.S.; and the many friendships Martin had made over the past ten years at Englewood Estates Retirement Community.
