Martha Ann Quackenbush left this life in the hope of another on September 10, 2006. She was born to George and Grace Tuttle in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois on August 12, 1928. She married WWII veteran and active duty Air Force Sargent, Dort Randall Quackenbush and proceeded to make her family a home in five countries on four continents. Martha was a loving wife and mother, a true and supportive friend who could keep her friends' confidences, a caring and generous citizen of the world, a champion of tolerance and acceptance, a devoted Evangelical Lutheran as well as a brilliant pinochle player. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Michael V. Quackenbush. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Mae Tuttle, of Decatur, Illinois, her daughter and beloved son in law Jennifer and David Thompson, of La Grange, Texas, two grandsons, Karl Daniel Quackenbush of Hampton, Virginia and David A. Thompson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, one great-granddaughter, Cambry Thompson, one nephew George Tuttle and one niece Rebecca Claycamp as well as many, many friends all over the world. Her life will be celebrated on September 16, 2006 at 11:00 am at St. John / San Juan Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas.
