Martha Jane Bradshaw Wimberley Coleman Anderson, 89, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, peacefully in her home thanks to the constant care of her oldest daughter, Suzanne, and her daughter from another country, Maria Cruz.
Born May 31, 1932, in Austin, daughter of Louis Henry and Ima Jane (Ballard) Bradshaw. She left Austin High School in order to be married like so many people after the war.
She got her GED when she was 24, graduated from St. Edward's University in 1974 with a BA in Sociology. She began working with Travis County Juvenile Court in 1966 and completed her Masters in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University in 1985. Martha loved working with the youth of Travis County at Gardner Betts Juvenile Center for 25 years as a Juvenile Probation Officer.
When Martha was raising her family she met her love, Bill Anderson, through a family member and they spent the following 39 years at the family home gardening and raising their blended families. She took great pride in her pickles (where she won Best in Show at the county fair), making peach and strawberry preserves and blackberry jelly.
After retiring Martha loved spending more time gardening, teaching granddaughters Martita and Jessica, and grandson Patrick her love of baking. She spent more time traveling and creating memories, during family trips to New Orleans and the Texas coast.
Martha was an animal lover and owned many cats, several dogs, a pig, and her favorite a chicken named Henny Penny. Henny Penny spent her first winter nesting in a potted plant in mom’s kitchen.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Louis M. Bradshaw and Oliver E. Bradshaw and a sister Mary Jo Wodtke, her son Bradshaw Thomas Coleman, step-son Eric Anderson and her devoted husband Bill Anderson.
