He was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert and Sidney Becker, and Herbert and Inez Quick, his parents Malcolm and Virginia Quick, his Uncle James H. Quick, and his older brother Larry Quick.
Marshall is survived by his two younger brothers Lt. Col. Leighton R. Quick, USMC Ret. (Molly) of Hamilton, VA, and Mason L. Quick of Austin, his aunt Dorothy M. Quick and his aunt and uncle Laurence and Rosanne Becker, his nephew and niece Ryan and Sarah Quick and his nephews Jason, Derek and Jared Quick, his cousins Roxy T. Becker, Amy Gwinn-Becker (Kristen), and Lt. Col. David A. Becker, USMC (Heather).
Marshall also leaves behind a host of friends who loved him dearly. The family would like to especially recognize Larry Harley of Las Vegas who has been a steadfast friend of Marshall’s and the Quicks for more than forty years.
Marshall graduated from L. C. Anderson High School. He was a lifelong member of University Presbyterian Church and was known in his youth to sneak into the sanctuary and play the pipe organ with all the stops wide open. His whole life revolved around the hospitality industry. Working for TWA and Sheraton, Holiday Inn, and Creative Travel. Marshall loved to travel and took some amazing trips with friends, especially Larry. Marshall’s true love was always the bar business. Marshall held court at some of Austin’s most iconic bars including The GreenHouse, Snuffies, Charlies, ‘Bout Time and ‘Bout Time 2. Marshall loved his customers and had an amazing memory of everyone who crossed his path, he was generous to a fault, never refusing someone who needed help. Marshall loved Gospel Music, Bingo and Dominoes, Bourbon and peppermint schnapps. Not necessarily in that order. Marshall loved Austin but equally loved his second home of family and friends in Las Vegas.
Marshall left this world suddenly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was a blessing to his family and his friends and will be missed beyond words.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest memorials to The Hill Country Ride for Aids https://hillcountryride.greatfeats.com/page/contact-us or University Presbyterian Church https://upcaustin.org
