I am so very sorry to hear of Mark's passing. I only met Mark once, when he and my best friend of many years ago, Cathy, got married. I know he was a wonderful man and I'm sure he and Cathy shared many happy years together. But I am so saddened to hear it was cut short. I often think of my dear friend old Cathy which led me to research where she was and I was heart broken to discover that her soul mate had passed on. God bless Mark and Cathy. Prayers to Cathy and Mark's family. 



It t was lovely to travel back in time, to see Mark when he was young, and  younger than when I knew him, and to also see him and other friends in times I do and always will  remember ... (lord willin' an' the crick don't rise.)  The cowboy hat. The tank tops. And oh, that accordion!

Because we lived so far away from Uncle Mark and Aunt Cathy, every visit was kind of a big deal and very memorable.  All of my memories with Uncle Mark are very exciting and full family and adventure.  Uncle Mark was an usher in my wedding - at the reception he was announced in with my husband's uncle (who towered over Uncle Mark) to an Austin Powers tune because the DJ thought Uncle Mark looked like Mini Me compared to him.  A handful of years later, after Uncle Mark received his diagnosis, we came to Texas to visit with our oldest son who was 2.5 at the time.  Texas heat on the 4th of July is a whole new level of heat!  Nonetheless, we had a blast at the ranch - watching the bats fly out from under the bridge - and watching fireworks in downtown Austin - and of course visiting the Schliterbaun with Uncle Mark and Aunt Cathy.  Miss you so much already Uncle Bernie.

I went to high school with Mark, and always thought he was one of the nicest guys. I am sure he continued to be a great man through the rest of his life. Condolences to his family, I know he will be missed, but celebrate his life and all the wonderful memories.
