

Mark T. Ritter, 70, died on Sunday, March 9, 2008. He was that rarity, a native Austinite, born here on November 20, 1937 to the late Frank (Dutch) Ritter and Frances Gildart Ritter. He attended St. Edward's high school, was a proud graduate of St. Edward's University and served his country with the Texas National Guard during the Cuban missile crisis. Mark was a founding partner of Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP and practiced public accounting with it and predecessor firms in Central Texas for more than forty years. He was also instrumental in the founding of ML&R Wealth Management LLC, a registered investment advisor, and devoted much of his time to that activity in recent years. He was a trusted advisor and friend to his clients and colleagues. Mark served on the boards of Austin Community Foundation, People's Community Clinic, Bat Conservation International, and Austin Symphony. He also served on the St. Edwards Gifts Planning Advisory Council, St. Edwards Business Development Committee and on the Investment Committee of the Austin Symphony. His memberships included The Headliners Club, Rotary Club of Austin, and the Texas Society of CPAs. His informal memberships included his runner's club, his airplane pilots club, and his hunting and fishing circles. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Weinheimer Ritter, son Mark C. Ritter and wife Leslie, son David Ritter, grandchildren Christopher Ritter and Caroline Ritter, sisters Toni Hair, Frances Veazey and husband Gary, Eden Terry and husband Jack; numerous nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank (Ike) Ritter in 1995. A visitation and gathering of friends and family will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 N. Lamar between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Funeral services will be held at Saint Mary's Cathedral at 203 East 10th Street at 10:00am Saturday, March 15, 2008. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
