Born on March 8th, 1973, in Pasadena, TX, Mark Sr. was a protector, provider and lover for those closest to him. Raised by his strong mother, Shandy Oldham, Mark Sr. was an only child but built a life full of family in his closest friends. It wasn’t until he met Paula Alvarez that he’d truly get to experience family to the fullest. Mark Sr. was a beloved husband to Paula and a loving father to Annalisa Chavez (Justin), Mark Oldham Jr. (Reece), Shandy Oldham and Michael Oldham. He is also survived by the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Rowan, D’mitri and Maya. Mark Sr. was a proud graduate of Travis High School. Raising four children at a young age, he worked hard to achieve much to support his family. He was dedicated to his work in the field of glazing and became the Safety Coordinator and Field Superintendent for Cothron’s glass division. It was in that process that he established his strong work ethic, ability to show devoted respect and be someone everyone could rely on. He always did whatever was necessary to make sure his family was provided for, more importantly always letting his family know how much he loved them.
Mark Sr. was a man of many interests and passions. A die-hard Tennessee Titans/ Oilers fan along with the Texas Longhorns, he never missed an opportunity to make a facebook post regarding his feelings on both of those teams… in capital letters. He always looked forward to a nice sunny day to take out his Harley to cruise through Texas hill country with his wife and buddies, but also couldn’t get away from speeding down empty roads on his sports bike.
Above all else, Mark Sr. was a family man. Anyone who knew him knew that he was so proud of his two daughters and two sons and loved his entire family with every piece of his heart. You wouldn’t be able to have a conversation with him without him mentioning his wife, kids and grandkids. That is the legacy he leaves behind, one of relentless love and one we will make sure our growing family feels and knows deeply.
We are grateful for the hope of salvation in Jesus Christ that Mark Sr. recently dedicated his life to and know this isn’t a goodbye but a see you later. His memory and love will forever be written on our hearts and we will forever bet against the cowgirls and TITAN UP in his absence. Rest in paradise papa.
A visitation for Mark will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
