Mark Paul Austin

Mark graduated from John Marshall High School in San Antonio, Texas, and from St. Edwards University with a degree in Finance. He spent his early years working in high tech marketing at Carroll Touch Technologies in Austin and Vancouver, Washington. Mark traveled to Europe and Japan for his work and pleasure. For the last 17 years he worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Austin.

Mark was a gentleman that enjoyed beautiful gardens, classical music and great movies. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand-niece and grand-nephew, Samantha and Hunter. He especially loved to host dinners for his friends at his home. He was an excellent cook, set a beautiful table and could recreate any dish that he had eaten at a restaurant. Mark was a former member of the Austin Rowing Club and enjoyed rowing in Heart of Texas Regattas and running in Capitol 10,000 races. As an act of generosity that fit his personality, Mark chose to be an organ donor.

Preceding him in death was his father, John T. Austin. Mark is survived by his mother, Anita Wilde Austin, brother and sister-in-law, John and Jean Austin of Austin Texas, his nephew, Johnny Austin, niece Christine Flores and her husband Mike, great niece - Samantha Flores, great nephew - Hunter Flores and numerous cousins. Mark is also survived by his second family of close friends; Shane Churchwell of San Antonio, Paul Westland, Mark Blannger, Charles Turland, Cate Hastings, Regena Robinson and Joyce Gober, all of Austin. Nothing was more important to Mark than the love he had for his family and friends. We will miss him, his laughter, and his sharp wit.

Viewing will be at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Avenue on Monday, February 20th from 2:00PM to 6:00 PM. Interment will be on Tuesday, at 11:00AM February 21st, at Oakwood Cemetery Annex. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a date in the near future.
