Mike was born on August 23,1948 in Alice, Texas to Lydia Duron and Pablo Silva.
Mike began his career in the U.S. Army in 1968 until he retired honorably discharged as an officer in 1992. During his military career he achieved his Master’s in Business from Webster University. Upon retirement he obtained his teaching certificate and proceeded to teach special needs children in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1994, Mike and Mary moved to Austin, Texas and he continued teaching special needs children until his retirement. He, then, worked for the Internal Revenue Service and retired again. After that he took on many different jobs to keep himself busy. He always said he did not know what he wanted to be when he grew up.
He enjoyed having family around and cooking on the grill for special occasions. Going out to dinner was also his “go too” for get togethers. He especially loved golfing and fishing. He also liked to travel with his wife to many places and casinos were always a stop on the way. He laughed all the time, tried to find humor in everything. He loved his family wholeheartedly and they will always remember him as the big, strong man that was there when they needed him.
Mike is survived by Mary Loza, his wife of 26 years of Buda, Texas; one sister, Tonie Silva of Austin, Texas; one nephew, Antony Hernandez of Austin, Texas; his three daughters, Sandra Silva of Lansing, Michigan; Shannon Wilson [Danny] of Clifton, Virginia; Lydia Scranton [Mchael] of Manor, Texas; five grandchildren, Samantha Gulley [Justin] of Holt, Michigan; Daniel Wilson & Nataya Wilson of Clifton, Virginia; Ethan Scranton & Aaron Scranton of Manor, Texas; and one great grandson Ronan Gulley-Stowe of Holt, Michigan.
