On December 14, 2019, Maria Elaine Williams passed away in the home she shared with her two loving canine children, Jax and Rudy, in Austin Texas. Maria will always be remembered for her quick wit and ability to see the humor in any situation, her generosity and her kindness which she extended to friends, neighbors, and even strangers. She brought her extraordinary artistic flare to every situation, showing her taste and creativity in her artwork, decorating, and personal style.
Born March 8, 1964 in Jacksonville Arkansas, from an early age and throughout her life, Maria could brighten any room with her smile. Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, Maria attended Westcreek Elementary, Wedgwood Middle School and Southwest High School. After graduating high school, Maria earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas Wesleyan University and a Masters of Science in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems from the University of North Texas. Computer science and information technology came easily to Maria, and in her career she worked as a network systems administrator and instructor who was equally competent in hardware and software dimensions.
Maria is survived by her parents, Dan and Colleen Odom, her sister, Monica Williams Applewhite, and the many friends she loved so dearly. Maria cared deeply for animals and had a special heart for dogs of all shapes and sizes.
In honor of her memory, please donate foster care, items, or financial support to the Austin Animal Center at http://www.austintexas.gov/department/support-animal-center.
Arrangements for Maria’s memorial service will be provided in early January. May she rest peacefully ever after.
