She is survived by daughters Mary Lou Guerra and husband John, Judy Vasquez and husband Rudy, Cynthia Ruiz and husband Chris; sons Michael Castro and Alfonso Castro and wife Concha.
Sisters Bonnie, Alice, Molly, Gloria (Maggie), Mary Jane, and Diana; brother Domingo Trevino and wife Janie.
She has 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and one to be born next month.
A special thank you to her first grandchild, Crystal Vasquez, for the loving care she provided for her grandma in her final days. It was truly a real honor for her.
Maria was preceded in death by mother Estefana Pacheco Trevino and father Mario Guardachea, brother Ray Gonzalez, grandson Christian Ruiz and great-grand-daughter Ryleigh Elizabeth Vasquez.
Maria was a loyal and dedicated hard worker. She worked for General Dynamic Assembly for a few years on the line during the Vietnam War.
She went on to work for Expanded Nutrition as a nutrition aide going home to home teaching families how to cook healthy meals.
Maria finally went on to be a private caregiver for many people in the Austin and San Marcos areas. Her last clients before retiring were Ed and Marjorie Bridges from Marbridge Ranch of whom she cared for as if they were her own family. She had tremendous empathy for all her clients and enjoyed caring for them.
The family will receive friends and family 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 17th at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks.
Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Friday June 18th at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks. Interment at 11:00 AM following the funeral service at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
