Born at home on September 19, 1918 the only child of Earl Hopkins Holder and Marguerite Irma Wolter Holder. Margie attended Stephen F. Austin High School (class of 1936) and The University of Texas at Austin where she majored in Home Economics and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Margie also attended Mayfair-Taylor Secretarial School and worked at E.M. Scarbrough & Sons Department Store till she married in 1938.
Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother known for her superb cooking skills, jovial nature, and loved watching baseball and football games. She loved her family and friends and built her life around them. Margie extended her care to others through community service. She was a life-long member of St. David’s Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Next-to-New shop for 40 years.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Emeritus at North Austin, Seton Hospital, and Christopher House.
Her son Robert Earl White of San Antonio; daughter Saralyn White Stewart of Austin; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren survive Margie.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Malcolm Howard White; her daughter Suzanne White Eastep; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 301 East 8th Street, Austin, Texas.
