Margie Carol (Vanatta) Potts of Austin, Texas, passed away on July 10, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born on May 3, 1940, in Baldwin, New York, where she grew up moving around with her family; from New York to Florida and back.
Margie graduated from Baldwin High School in 1958. She later worked as a Manager for Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where she retired in 2000. She held various positions throughout the IRS.
In her free time, Margie enjoyed being with family, reading, and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Amy H. Farrell; father Tommie T. Vanatta; brother Gary Vanatta; and sister Wally Jean Vetter.
She is survived by her son Tommie T. Potts and her daughter Carolyn A. Brewer; her partner of 40 years John R. Rodriguez; her brother Robert Vanatta and wife Angie of Port St Lucia, Florida; her sisters Peggy Falco of Island Park, New York, and Amy Sebastiano along with her husband David of Patchogue, New York; her grandchildren Kimberly Potts, Jonathan Brewer, Joshua Brewer, Matthew Potts; as well as by her great-grandchildren Julia Brewer and Madelynn Kruse.
The family would like to thank St David’s South Austin, especially the ICU Trauma area for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 4:00 PM. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Pk & Cemetery, located in Farmingdale, New York at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ASPCA of Austin, as Margie gave to them often.
