Born on July 31st, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Margaret spent her formative years and most of her adult life in Alexandria, eventually making Austin her home to be closer to her beloved children and grandchildren.
Margaret's journey was one of profound devotion to her family and unwavering commitment to education and community. She graduated from Louisiana State University and dedicated nearly four decades of her life to teaching, with a focus on underprivileged children and special education for most of her career. Her impact extended beyond the classroom, as she was actively engaged in the Amerita Club and St. Rita’s Church in Alexandria, Louisiana, and later in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.
A true matriarch, Margaret exemplified unconditional love and selflessness. She cared for her parents, Frances and Hobart Buster Vance, in their final days and demonstrated unparalleled compassion for others throughout her life. Margaret's marriage to Kenneth Rodenbeck spanned nearly six decades, marked by enduring love and mutual support. Together, they raised their children, Dena and Ryan, and welcomed the joy of grandchildren, Austin, Savannah, and Brody.
Margaret's legacy shines brightly through her dedication to her family, her passion for teaching, and her generous spirit toward others. She will be fondly remembered as a beacon of warmth and kindness by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Hobert Joseph Vance and Frances Theresa Vance, as well as her dear Aunt Jeannette Couteter and cousin Rita Couteter Paul, who held a special place in her heart.
Survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Rodenbeck, and loving children, Dena Davis and Ryan Rodenbeck, she leaves behind cherished grandchildren Austin and Savannah Davis, along with their father, Monte Davis, and her beloved grandchild Brody Rodenbeck and his mother, Angel Rodenbeck.
