Margaret Thorn Redding passed away on May 11 at age 95. She was born October 4, 1920, in San Antonio to Elbert and Anna Gunter Thorn, and was raised in a large, boisterous family on a farm on the Colorado River in Smithville, Texas. After graduating from high school, she moved to Austin where she met and married Frank Redding. They settled in south Austin to raise their family. Margaret worked in the office of Fulmore Junior High School for 32 years. After retirement, she travelled, played bridge (a lot) and enjoyed entertaining. Margaret was caring, feisty, and had great sense of style.
She is predeceased by her parents, her four brothers and sisters, her husband, Frank, and grandson, Bryon Moore. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Fisher (husband, Charlie) of Austin, and Pat Piland (husband, Page) of Houston. Grandchildren, Tina Manley (husband, Brian), Carrie Benjamin, and David Piland (wife, Linda). Great-grandchildren, Cayce Manley, Mitchell Manley, and Gracie Piland. Cousin, James Quick (wife, Dorothy).
A memorial gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
