Margaret Bull Francis, 91, passed away on November 30, 2024, in Cedar Park, Texas. She is survived by her children: Stewart Francis of Cedar Park, Texas, Marla Reim and husband Kris of Cedar Park, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Misty Francis of Dallas, Texas, Sarah Francis of San Antonio, Texas, Travis Reim of Santa Monica, California, Brandon Reim of Cedar Park, Texas, Derek Reim and wife Ashley of Chicago, Illinois.
Margaret was born on April 26, 1932 in Cambridge, England to Stewart Todd Bull and Gwendolyn Bull, in the apartment above her father’s dairy shop. She attended St. Mary’s School and worked at Bull’s Dairy as a clerk.
Margaret met Bill Francis during his years doing chemical research at Cambridge University. They married on May 20, 1954 and soon after he returned to the United States with his British bride, living in Pittsburg, Kansas where Stewart was born, and Kansas City, Missouri where Marla was born. In 1966 they relocated to Houston, Texas where Margaret worked for Union Carbide for many years. In their free time she and Bill enjoyed spending weekends sailing and relaxing at their Tiki Island home in Galveston, traveling (especially the trips “home” to visit her parents, brother & sister-in-law, other family, and many friends…all of whom knew her fondly as Pinky or Winks. They were very active in the Methodist Church and enjoyed socializing with friends through neighborhood events and their gourmet supper club.
Margaret was a loving wife and mother, always involved in Stewart’s and Marla’s schools, sports, and clubs and always making sure Sunday dinners and holidays were special…often including her favorite English dishes: tea & crumpets, roast and Yorkshire pudding, shepherd’s pie, chocolate steamed pudding, or trifle. While she loved all things British, she absolutely loved her life in here in the states and decided to become a US citizen in 2002. Soon after losing her beloved Bill in 2007, she made the move to Cedar Park, joining Marla and Stewart there. Margaret, Mama, Winks, Pinky…but perhaps her favorite name was Nana. Her 5 grandchildren and Derek’s wife Ashley, were one of her greatest joys. Attending as many of their events and activities as possible, taking hundreds of photos, and sharing it all with her close friends made her truly happy.
Although Margaret faced many health challenges in her later years, she was a fighter - always positive, a smile on her face.
A memorial service will be held July 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.
