Marcus Tapia Zamarripa, age 89, returned to his heavenly home on November 5, 2019 after a battle with pneumonia. His devotion to his family and firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Marcus was born to the late Bernabe Zamarripa and Remedios Tapia in Austin, TX. He was immersed in the Christian community from an early age which would later be his lifelong support.
Marcus was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Elda Guerro Solis and helped raise their six children with patience, discipline, and humility. He often took his family on road trips to places such as Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Disneyland. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels.
Marcus loved all people and could easily fit in any social setting. He was kind and outgoing, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Elda; daughters, Mary Phillips, Martha (Don Floyd), and Erica (Ed Fong); sons, Joel (Mary Helen Zamarripa), and Robert; grandchildren, Amy, Sonia, Tracy, Marcy, Anabelle, Laura, Armand; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Noah, Mariah, Tristen; and sister, Tommie Zamarripa. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Irene Zamarripa Ayala; brother, Joe Zamarripa; sister, Janie Zamarripa Garcia; granddaughter Yvette; and parents, Bernabe and Remedios Zamarripa.
Marcus will be buried at Cook Walden Capital Parks Chapel in Pflugerville, TX at 1:00 p.m. on November 10th.
Pallbearers: Ed Fong, Ben Zamarripa, Jimmy Sanchez, & Ismael Solis
