M J Adamson 'Jim', 89, died January 17, 2010 of natural causes at home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and businessman. Jim was born December 29, 1920 in Beyer, PA. He was raised in Indiana, PA and graduated from Penn State University. He joined the Army Air Force, serving during WW II. While stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo he met Sarah Francis Jones. They were married in 1945 and celebrated 48 happy years together. Jim and Sarah enjoyed traveling, social events, and grandchildren. Jim had a long, successful career in the dairy industry which resulted in many lasting relationships. A long time resident of Austin, he adopted the University of Texas and followed all UT sporting events with great loyalty. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, a passion that he shared with his son, grandson and friends for over 70 years. A lifelong Christian, Jim was baptized with water from the river Jordan and worshipped as a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church and often attended First United Methodist Church with Kathy Rogers. Organizations that he enjoyed included Austin Woods and Waters Club, UT Sage program, Headliners Club, Austin Rotary Club, Austin Symphony and numerous charities. His contagious smile and zeal for life will be missed. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and Sarah Adamson. Jim is survived by his son Jim, Jr. and wife Sally, grandson James and fiancé Erin Modra, granddaughter Karen and husband Javan Johnson, companion Kathryn Rogers, her children Kim and David Murray, Karon and Ken Shouse, Angela and Carlos Godby and her grandchildren. Jim will also be missed by nieces, nephews and many great friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21st at 2 pm in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel officiated by Monsignor Fred Bomar. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Operation Orphans, Mason, Texas, The Rotary Foundation, Austin, Texas, or The McBride Foundation.
