Luella Gladys Witte Weber, age 95, passed away in Austin on March 15, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1928, in Taylor, Texas, to Walter John Witte and Cecelie Windmeyer Witte. Luella was baptized on November 4, 1928, at Noack Lutheran Church and confirmed on March 29, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Taylor. She graduated from Taylor High in 1946 and moved to Austin to work for the Austin Independent School District at Robert E. Lee School. She married Ottis Weber on September 11, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Taylor. Ottis and Luella had 4 children (2 died in infancy), 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Son, Clayton Weber (Robin); daughter, Vicki Lynn French; grandson, Chad Krause (Katie); granddaughter, Carley Cardwell (William); granddaughter, Lindsey French (Brent); granddaughter, Erin Mabrey; great-grandchildren, McKinley Cardwell, Harper Cardwell, Brynnlee Krause, and Bryce Krause.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Cecelie Witte, infant daughter Jeanie Gale, infant son Konrad Clayton, and beloved husband, Ottis Weber.
Ottis and Luella joined Faith Lutheran in August 1955. They were active members and worked on several committees. Luella was a Ruth Bible Study Circle member until she was the only member.
She was a seamstress and sewed cheerleading and band uniforms for McCallum High School and Lamar Junior High School. She enjoyed growing and talking to her flowers. She loved her friends and family very much and will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Ascension Seton Central, Center at Parmer, and St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2024, at noon at Faith Lutheran Church, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. also at Faith Lutheran Church. Faith Lutheran Church is located at 6600 Woodrow Avenue in Austin.
