Lucinda Angeline Elliott peacefully passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior on December 12, 2012 at the age of 100. She died in her home in Austin Texas surrounded by her family and angels. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. "Red" Elliott in 1973.
Lucinda was born in Travis Peak, Texas on March 2, 1912 to George Manly Turner & Anna Marie Turner. She was oldest of eight children and is survived by one brother, Eugene Turner of Alexanderia Virginia and one sister, Ann Patterson Jantzen, of Georgetown Texas.
Lucinda is also survived by her beloved children, G.W. "Bill" Elliott and wife Sherry of Austin, Gloria Ann Facarazzo of Arlington, Darlene Browning of Fort Worth, Robert Wayne "PG" Elliott and wife Margie of Georgetown, Claudia Montgomery of Austin, and David Elliott and wife Marilyn of Austin. She is survived by 15 grandchildren and
22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother.
Lucinda graduated from Gause High School in 1929 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended and obtained her teaching certificate in 1932 from Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos, now known as Texas State University. She taught school in a "one room" school in Pinoak and Gause Texas in the 1930's. After her marriage she devoted her time to raising and loving her six children. Over the years she has lived in Travis Peak, Gause, Thorndale, Leander, Jonestown, and Austin Texas. Before retirement she worked at Austin State School as a teacher/attendant. Lucinda was always a teacher at heart whether she was teaching in the classroom or teaching her Ladies Sunday School class at Rosedale Baptist and Leander Baptist churches. At the time of her death she was a member of Leander Baptist Church.
Lucinda touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity, and her great sense of humor. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all that knew her.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, the 22nd of December, 2012 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
The family wants to thank Grace Hospice of Austin for their loving care over the past few months. A special thanks to nurses Rocelle, Jamie, and Sheila; caregivers Kathy and Jean for being a special help to the family in Lucinda's last days.
