Lucy graduated from Lockhart High School in 1954. For several years helped her father operate a small grocery store in Lockhart. On January 4, 1964, she married Ben Lempa. Shortly after their marriage, she began to work at the IRS as a seasonal employee Data Transcriber. Ben and Lucy relocated to Austin in 1970.
Lucy had a passion for crocheting and enjoyed sharing her talent with others. To this day, those fortunate enough to have received a crocheted gift or any type of arts and craft creation by Lucy still rave about it. She loved collecting bells, angels, recipes, growing flowers and spending time with her family. She had an extra special knack for cooking and baking. She especially loved to cook and bake for the holidays and special occasions, always making something special for each loved one in her life. She loved puzzles and games of all kinds.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; John and Susie Joseph; sisters, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Carol; brothers, Joe, Anthony and John.
She is survived by her husband, Ben Lempa of Austin; daughters, Leslie Lempa (Michael Van Straten) of Austin, Diane Eargle (James) of Round Rock; granddaughters, Ashlee Eargle of Round Rock, Hollie Meador (Todd) of Manor; son, Rodney Lempa of Austin; niece, Debbi Childress (George) of The Woodlands; great-grandson, Micah Meador of Manor; sister, Pat Heiber of Sulphur Springs and brother, Ferris Joseph of Lockhart.
Graveside services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 23rd of November 2013, at Polonia Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
