Lucie was the backbone of our Sunday Campus ministry choir.She was the first to help any of us who needed advice or help,both in English and Spanish.Lucie helped me out of a very difficult living situation.
Lucie was little but mighty.

Lucie was filled with so much faith, joy, and love. She became my first mentor at St. Ed’s and, even more so, a mom for other student workers and I. From the first day I met Lucie, I knew we felt a special connection stemming from our Valley background and love for the university. I was so gracious she decided to offer me a position and work under her supervision for the duration of my time as an undergrad. My favorite thing to do at the office would spend time hanging out by her desk and hearing all of her stories while eating the candy she had hidden. From her organizational skills to her incredible smile and laughter, I was constantly reminded that Lucie was truly the most wonderful human I had the pleasure of getting to know. She always encouraged me to finish my education and give back to my community, just as her legacy will now live on. She was one of the few individuals who would call me “Lupita” or “Anita” and bring a smile to my face every time she did. I will always appreciate the time we got to spend together, even in her last days. Although I am heartbroken to know she is no longer with us, I firmly believe she is watching over us from above in the kingdom of Heaven. Her kindness and humility will continue to inspire me. I love you, Lucie. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

We met at St. Ed’s and instantly became family! Lucie was always faithful and dedicated to our Lord. We traveled together through Europe and visited many churches and the Vatican. She loved my children like her own! She shared the love and passion she had for the Chapel of Divine Mercy. I will miss her but will hold her in my heart forever! ❤️

My favorite memory of Lucie is when I went to lunch with her (in the summer of 1989) and told her that I was dating Danny. She was so excited! She absolutely took credit for us getting together! She lived in love, for God, for Gabe and for all those around her. We will both miss her so much. She was a yaya, a friend, a sister and especially a gift. 

I was saddened to learn of Lucie's departure from this life.  I know she was welcomed by open arms in heaven.  I am grateful to have experienced her joyful caring life. Here is a picture of me and Lucie in 2006 in the plaza at St. Edward's. We worked beside each other for many years on the second floor of Main Building. She was an immensely kind and caring soul.

For Lucie’s family - Lucie was my first officemate when I joined the St. Edward’s Advancement Office.  We shared so many wonderful conversations.  She was always supportive of me, especially during the birth of my child, my divorce, my first Triduum (even with an emergency tooth extraction and having to wear a knee brace!), and my confirmation into the Catholic faith.  She served as my older sister, giving me advice, laughter, hugs, and tears when I needed them.  Lucie was always the mother of our student staff and office staff.  She truly loved Jesus, and every moment of her every workday was a true testament to her vocation to Him.  I have never met anyone like Lucie.  While I am sad that she is gone, I am comforted in knowing that she gets to meet God, Jesus, and all the angels in heaven, whom she worked so hard to honor.  Thank you for sharing your Lucie with us all.

I was lucky to be her mentee even years after I left SEU. She helped me navigate life and grounded me through faith and family values. She shared her life lessons learned, kind words of compassion, and love of food. ❤️


My heart is heavy with this news of Lucie’s passing. She was always welcoming to our family while attending SEU and when we visited. We considered her and Gabe as part of our family. She sang at our wedding with the SEU church choir in Sugar Land and remained as part of our “extended family” when we left Austin. We always made a point to stop and see her when we  visited campus. She will be missed by many, especially our family. Prayers of peace and comfort to Gabe and her extended family. 

Lucie was a ray of sunshine, always there to lend a helping hand and support her students and coworkers. Her selfless nature will be remembered by all who knew her.

Lucie was also known for her incredible faith, which she shared with everyone around her. She helped people with kindness and compassion. In fact, she became much more than a coworker or friend but an adopted fairy godmother to many in the St. Edward’s family (myself included). ♥️

I’m very sorry to hear about Lucie’s passing. She was one of my favorite colleagues during my time working at St Edwards. Lucie was always kind and friendly to me and everyone around her. She will be missed.
