Lt. Col. (USA Ret) Henry Harlen Rogers, 100, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on July 10, 2022. Henry was born in Lexington MO to Bessie Nancy Blankenship and William Harve Rogers on October 16, 1921. He spent his childhood in Kansas City and left home to join the Army in 1941. He was a proud member of the Greatest Generation, serving in WWII, Korea and Germany immediately following construction of the Berlin Wall. He retired in 1963 as a Lt. Col.
During his service, he met his wife, Jane, at a USO dance in Joplin and they married on March 7, 1943. They had four children; Ralph Bryan, William Rich, Jennifer Sue and Robert Ryan.
After retirement from the Army he settled his family in Austin, Texas and he worked many years for the Veterans Administration in the Data Processing Center on South I-35. Henry eventually retired from civil service and spent the rest of his abundant life with his family around him in Austin.
Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jane Warner Rogers in 2006, and is survived by sons Ralph, Bill and Robert, daughter Jennifer Padden, daughter-in-law Mary Rogers, son-in-law Brian Padden, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Henry and Jane will be interred together at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
