Lori Daves Edel Lori Daves Edel, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, passed from this world peacefully on Monday evening, July 11 surrounded by the love of her family. Lori was born on November 28, 1963, to Evelyn and Larry Daves in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Journalism and minors in English and Marketing, and Jefferson Senior High School in Cedar Rapids. She had many interests from mentoring high school girls to teaching Sunday School at her church, but nothing was more important to her than being involved in her daughter Elizabeths activities and gathering loved ones from far and near to celebrate special holidays. Lori is survived by her loving family: husband Scot Edel, daughter Elizabeth, parents Evelyn and Larry Daves, brother Bret Daves, his wife Michele, and adored nephews Spencer and Sawyer. She is also survived by Scots brother Tod Edel, his wife Debbie, beloved nieces Kathryn and Audrey Lee; as well as mother-in-law Lee Edel. Loris cousin Dawn Tucker, childhood friend Terri Jedlicka, and numerous other family members and friends will also miss her dearly. Lori touched others with her compassion, enthusiasm, sharp wit and indomitable spirit. Her warmth, her charm and her beautiful smile always made others feel valued. A dynamic business woman, Lori built a nationally recognized recruitment advertising agency with her business partner of 10 years, Joanna Meis. She was a leader in the recruitment advertising industry, known for her award-winning campaigns and innovative solutions. But more than anything, she was known to both her staff and clients for always being the friend to lean on, the friend to call for advice, and the friend to call for a good laugh. Lori inspired many by facing every challenge with a positive attitude, humor and unwavering perseverance. Her incredible zest for life and her gift for making others happy were hallmarks of Loris personality. These qualities, coupled with her strong faith in the Lord, helped her face her struggle against cancer with dignity. A celebration of Loris life will be at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 16 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
