I will never forget the day that I met my bride of 40 years. Having recently moved to Austin, a co-worker from Davis Hardware Store invited me to attend his church. Upon picking me up to provide me with transportation, Lois was already sitting as a passenger. We were married on 04/27/1980, and as they say: The rest is history.
We shared a very full and active life together, and moved away to Arkansas twice, however- we found our way back to Austin on both occasions. Our lives were very parallel as I had worked in law enforcement and corrections, and we were both Correctional Officers with the Lockhart State Prison. We later owned our own Security Company.
Lois had a very quiet grace about her, and being in her presence was peace. She was such a loving and talented woman, and quite crafty when it came to doing leatherwork such as dog collars, leashes, bridles and belts.
We shared many joys and accomplishments together, and a few stick out with more significance in my heart and memory. One of these was our involvement in raising Bloodhounds, and utilizing them in search and recovery efforts, and in many cases of missing children. Another joy we shared was co-authoring the book, “The Elven Chronicles: The Exiled”. (We were both very avid J.R.R. Tolkien fanatics!) However, the greatest joy and accomplishment in our lives was having and raising three beautiful daughters: Mindy, Martha and Mary.
I thank God for the time that my life was blessed and enriched by this woman. Next to our former pastor G.S. McGill, and his wife Maxine, she was the most prayerful, spiritual person I have ever known. Although she was taken from this earth so abruptly, I am at peace knowing that she is in the eternal presence of our creator and those that we have previously lost, as well as being free from pain and physical limits.
She made me the happiest and most fulfilled man I could be, and for that, I will remain humbly and forever grateful.
Lois was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents James and Nada Hunter; brother David Leon Hunter; sister Kim Hunter; and her daughter Martha Rose Bollinger.
She is survived by her husband Michael Bollinger; daughters Mindy C L Bollinger and Mary Bollinger Hale; and brothers Jim Hunter and Bart Hunter.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 12th at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Funeral services will be held in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 13, 2021 followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cameran Hunter, Jimmy Hunter, Mitchell Hunter, Bart Hunter, Marty Hunter and Donnie Hunter.
