Lloyd Lee Ferrell was born on March 5, 1941 in San Saba, Texas to James Joel Ferrell, Sr. and Mamie Evan Moore Ferrell. Lloyd was the middle of 6 siblings. Sisters; Betty and Patsy Ferrell, brothers; James Jr.,John, Bill and Ray Ferrell. He graduated from San Saba High School in 1960 and was employed by the San Saba News in the print room. In 1963, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia with the Infantry Division. At his discharge, Lloyd was SP4.
After his discharge in 1965, he returned to San Saba to assist in caring for his mother who was ill. Lloyd returned to working as a typesetter at San Saba News. In 1967, he took a job with the Austin Police Department as a jailer making his once temporary move to Austin a permanent move. Also, in 1967, he was hired by Western Electric as an installer which became his lifelong career retiring from Lucent Technologies in 2002. In 1968, Lloyd met and married Laura Jean Surratt in Victoria, Texas on August 4, 1968. In 1973, they welcomed their son, Robert Douglas and then in 1976, they welcomed their daughter Rene Michelle.
In the mid-1980s, with his children swimming for Longhorn Aquatics, Lloyd began officiating swim meets. He was excited to be invited to officiate at the U.S. Swimming Nationals as well as several International meets held at the University of Texas Swim Center. He enjoyed watching his children excel at swimming and were both going to the Junior Olympics for their age brackets.
In 1997, Lloyd became a grandfather when Robert and Rebekah had Celeste Marie. In 2001, he was excited to walk his daughter down the aisle to marry Jesse S. Hernandez, Jr. In 2002, he witnessed his son marry Leah Renee Bost along with the birth of their daughter Alexis Rene. Then in 2005, Robert and Leah had Aiden Robert. Lloyd enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his beloved grandchildren.
He loved music, especially old country which he would travel to Llano, Texas to see some of his favorite performers. He also loved his adorable cats.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Joel Ferrell, Jr.
