Linda Rachel Marin went to Heaven with her deeply loving, dedicated husband by her side on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the age of 66. Linda was truly an angel whose kindness, generosity, and love was shown to all including sweet animals that needed care. Linda was an ardent animal lover and a helpful, generous, caring person who always wanted to lend a hand to those in need.
Linda was employed with the Department of Family and Protective Services as an Accountant until the time of her death and previously worked for GCR Truck Tire Company until 2010, as a Jr. Account. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Linda worked for the State Law Library. Linda also was dedicated to and served as an Executive Director of the local Citizens United for Rehabilitation of Errants (CURE), a grass-roots prison reform group for many years in the 1990’s. Linda was a champion of equality. She strongly believed, like Martin Luther King and Cesar Chavez, that change must come through nonviolent means.
Linda is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Cecilio and Victoria Marin; maternal grandparents, Victoriano and Marina Rivera; father, Juan Gamez Marin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hubert and Dorothy Tatsch; sister-in-law, Rebecca Corona Marin; and sister-in-law, Neva Lyons.
Linda will be sadly missed by her beloved husband, Douglas K. Tatsch; mother, Rachel R. Marin; sisters, Irma Herrera (Gabriel), Margaret Hackett (Richard), and Diana Barkley (Larry); brothers, John Marin (Cheryl) and David Marin; and numerous nieces and nephews whom Linda loved so much.
Linda’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Seton Medical Center Austin for the outstanding care they provided to keep Linda comfortable in her final days.
A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 16, 2016, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in Linda’s memory to the ASPCA, Emancipet, or Austin Pets Alive.
