Linda Earle Lawhorn

Linda Earle Leath (Thigpen, Gant, and Marascola) Lawhorn, 64 years old, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on May 5, 2014 from complications with end stage renal disease. She was born on September 19, 1949, in Dallas, Texas and was a resident of Oak Cliff growing up.

Linda began as a licensed beautician and progressed to working for EDS, then Countrywide Home Loans and then subsequently Bank of America before retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Methodist Church for many years. Her passion in life was bowling. She won the Dallas Morning News Bowling Tournament twice, she bowled seven 700 series and bowled a 299 game. She also won many awards in tournaments around the country as an individual and on teams. She was also named Dallas Women’s Bowling Association Bowler of the Year.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, James Henry (Jim) Leath; her mother, Mildred Harrell Leath; her brother, Glenn Murray Leath. She is survived by her son, James Bryan Thigpen and husband, W. Brian Moore; her grandson, Jarrod Amos Thigpen all of Austin, Texas; her sister, Glynda Leath Kittrell of Houston, Texas; her two half-brothers, Jimmie Lee Leath and wife, Jayne, of McKinney, Texas; and Robert Leath and wife, Nadine, of Citrus Heights, California.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and care providers of North Austin Medical Center and all the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center in North Austin for their love and care of Linda during her illness.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Laurel Land Cemetery at 6000 S R.L. Thornton Fwy in Dallas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, who provided much assistance with her healthcare needs.
