Linda was educated in Austin at Casis Elementary, Baker Elementary, O'Henry Middle School, and Austin High School (graduate of 1982). She then attended Austin Community College (Fall 1982-Summer 1983), Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Business Industry School and received her California License of Vocational Nursing on August 21, 1991.
As Linda bids farewell to this phase of existence, she moves on to reunite with (and meet): her great grandparents; grandparents Willette Cannon Quinn, Lawrence Quinn, Lethna Hughes, and Mr. Hughes; twin sister Glenda Hughes; father John Hughes; sisters Paula Holloway and Joni Hughes; step-father Robert W. Sunderland; and other family and friends.
Linda is survived by: mother Ernestine Q. Sunderland; mentor and friend Dorothy Turner; sister Michelle Hughes; niece Quintessa Hughes; nephew Quincy Proctor; aunt Ollie Simms; step-mother Miriam Hughes; uncle Lawrence Coleman; cousins Diane Hughes, and Denise Harvey; a stepbrother, stepsisters, and many other cousins, family members and beloved friends.
While we are greatly saddened by our loss, we are happy that Linda returned to Austin to renew relationships with family and friends, as well as make new friendships. Linda had a gift for bringing people together and brought laughter to all in her sphere. She will be dearly missed, but we are comforted in the knowledge she is at peace, not in pain, and with God.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and services at 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2015 at University Christian Church, 2007 University Ave., Austin, TX 78705. A reception will follow the service. Committal will be at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S IH 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78704.
Thank you to all of our church family, friends, the staff at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes, the staff at Assumption Cemetery, and all those who have shown us such love and comfort.
