Lillian Virginia Jenny King On Sunday, May 22, 2005, Virginia King entered the gates of Heaven. This is a day the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Virginia was born in Elgin, Texas on June 1, 1928 the daughter of Milledge and Virgil King. At the age of eight Miss Jenny announced to her mother I know what I want to be when I grow up. I want to be the best nurse ever. In 1951 Virginia completed her nursing education at St. Vincent De Paul in Little Rock, Arkansas. She returned to her beloved Texas hill country and began her career at Saint Davids Community Hospital in 1959. During her 35 years of service she provided comfort and healing for countless patients and earned the respect of physicians and nurses who affectionately addressed her as Miss King. After her retirement she continued to serve as a volunteer with the St. Davids Hospital Auxiliary at the Health Resource Center. Virginia was a devout Christian and member of Hyde Park Baptist Church since 1959. Her church family and co-workers will cherish the memory of this precious lady. Left to join in the celebration of her life are special friends; Bobbie and Weldon Keith Huffman, Jean Butler, Harold and Chris Mathews, Edna Sparks, Marlene Rich, Michael Paclik, DVM, and Marlene Meador. Virginia wished to thank Dr. Eric Lambeth, Dr. Carsten Kampe and the dedicated staff of Austin Oncology Associates, the nurses and staff of Brighton Gardens and Hospice Austin for the care and kindness provided during her illness.
