He was a devout Christian, a Son of The Republic of Texas and a proud descendent of The Alamo. Leo truly had a heart of gold and was an honorable protector to all. In Leo's early life, he had many lifetime friends from the bond that was created living in 78704, a true Austinite as he attended Travis Heights, St. Elmo Elementary, Fulmore Middle school and Travis High. From Leo and his brother riding their bikes and hanging out at Zilker Park, swimming at Big Stacey's working at El Gallo, Stewart Meat Company, The Magic Time Machine and Payless Auto sales. Many nights going to the drive-in theater on Ben White, racing his cars with friends on Highway 71, and even sneaking cars off of his dad's car lot with his buddies. As a son, Leo cherished his father, and they had a very special bond. Like many of us in the family, Leo Sr. was his hero and loved every minute he was with him. Leo was a big brother and protector of his younger brother. Through their childhood experiences until the day he passed away, their brotherhood bond was like no other. Whether they were in Port Aransas, Las Vegas, or even when they were working a hailstorm, his joy of spending time with his father and brother David never changed. As an adult, he loved to be in the mountains and still loved going down to Port Aransas any chance he got. Spending time in Fredericksburg to watch the horse races and hang out with close friends, was also very meaningful to him. Leo loved many things, but cars (especially Camaro's and Chevelle's) and the great game of football were among his favorites. The countless days of watching football with his brother, nephews and father will always be something we look back on and love. Leo's nephews and nieces were a big part of his life. He was extremely proud of them and adored each one. They loved him and he loved them with all of his heart. Being so full of life, he made it easy to turn anything or any situation into an incredibly beautiful memory. Leo had a way of making you laugh even at times you thought you couldn't, which is one of the reasons why people loved to be around him. His friends considered him a brother, and he loved them like family. Leo was truly loved and cherished by everybody in his family. As a one-of-a-kind son, brother, and uncle, he will always be remembered for living life on his own terms. He is survived by his brother David Etienne and sister's-in-law Melissa Etienne and Jeri Turner, and his nephews and nieces, Bryan Etienne, Austin Mitchell Etienne, Lauren Etienne, Megan Bates, Nikki Bates, Rachel Ybarra, McCall Turner, Sara Turner, Erica Porter, Aaron Mitchell Ranelle, Heather Ranelle, Samson, Afton, Dana Green, Jo Koening, Marion, Rodney and many cousins. We love you so much and will miss you like no other. Give Papa a hug and kiss for all of us.
