Lea Anne Dean brought uncommon grace, compassion, and beauty to the lives of those who love her. Her death on October 31, 2009 now brings deep sorrow. Lea Anne was born December 26, 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia, to Jack and Earlene Dean. Lea spent much of her childhood in Madison County, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in English. She later received a nursing degree and worked as a Registered Nurse in Georgia and in Texas, most recently as the office manager at Central Family Practice in Austin. Lea greatly enjoyed reading, excelled at cooking, and above all else, loved to laugh and play with her wonderful son, Owen. Lea Anne was preceded in death by her father, Jack Dean. Survivors include: husband, Stephen Mielke and son, Owen of Austin; mother, Earlene Dean of Royston, Georgia; brother, Mark Dean and his wife Lisa, and their daughter, Kaitlin of Danielsville, Georgia; mother-in-law, Martha Mielke of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Sharon Himali and her husband Nripendra, and their daughter Anjali, of Fort Worth; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Lea and her family extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Dr. Beth Hellerstedt and the outstanding nurses and staff at Texas Oncology in Austin; to Dr. Ron Williams and the nurses and staff at the CTRC Sarcoma Clinic in San Antonio; and to our friends, colleagues, and neighbors who have provided their immense love and support. A memorial gathering is planned for Tuesday, November 3 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the lobby at Central Family Practice, 801 West 34th Street, Suite 102 (centralfamily.com). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wonders & Worries (wondersandworries.org), the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative (sarcomahelp.org), or a charity of choice.
