

Larry Phillip Whitfill, Jr., 39, died suddenly Monday evening, June 21st of heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Aimee; daughter, Mary, 16; sons, Thomas and William, 11; mother, Dawn; sister, LaTisha; brother, Charles. He is preceded in death by sisters, Victoria and Rebecca, brother, Cody, uncle, Thomas and grandparents, Mary and Jay.
Larry was born on November 5, 1970 in Houston, Texas to Dawn and Larry Whitfill. He grew up in Odessa, Texas where his grandfather, Jay Mac Tripp, taught him to work hard from a young age, an ethic he continued to instill in his children. Larry graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1994 and continued on to graduate school, also at A&M.
He and his wife met in college and married in 1997 in Canyon, TX. Larry and Aimee lived many places and finally settled in their dream city, Austin, TX in 2004 where Thomas and William will attend middle school in the fall. He coached Thomas’ and William’s 2009-2010 soccer seasons, enjoyed playing his guitar for his family and was an avid sports men. Larry has been an engineer with Cisco Systems for 5 years working closely with friends and colleagues. Larry will be remembered most for his passion, southern hospitality, sense of humor and room brightening persona.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday June 25 at funeral home, Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue with Reverend Greg Shapley of First United Methodist Church in Hurst officiating. Burial to follow at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa, Texas.
Pallbearers will be friends Jason Bell, Dale Wood, Patrick Horner and Kirk Ingles, brother, Charles, and brother-in-law, John Shueneman. Honorary Pallbearers will be father-in-law, George Biffle, brother-in-law, Leslie Biffle, and friends, Jeff Sundstrom and Jason Bybel.
