Hard to recognize in his frail body, he asked if I was ready for him to go… I told him I would never be ready for him to go but wanted him to be out ofpain and at peace. He died the next day.
I had the most wonderful parents who taught me tolerance, the true meaning of unconditional love and "laissez les bon temp rouler". My dad came to this country at 10 during the Holocaust leaving grandparents behind in Germany and chose to live a very full and happy life. He retired as managing partner of a CPA firm at the request of the NOLA Mayor to become the CAO of NOLA...he loved NOLA and all its craziness and worked to bring integrity to a city that wasn't always "kosher"!! He taught us how to work hard while having fun and never met a stranger.
He was "Papa Kurt" to many...his 8 grandchildren who were his world and their countless friends and mine. His humor and jokes will be missed by all and his most famous phrase he would say to my mom "Yes dear, whatever you think is best dear". I never heard him make a petty comment about someone or speak unkindly. He and mom were truly amazing people and the world is a better place because of them. Rest in Peace...we will never forget you.
Arrangements under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.
