Koshy (‘Joe’ or ‘Jochen’ to friends and family) was born on July 2, 1943 in Kollad/Kottayam, Kerala, India to K.V. Koshy and Rachel Joseph. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kerala in India and spent the next forty-plus years designing various items and processes for oil refineries and plants around the world.
Dad married our mom Lillykutty (Susan) in 1970 and welcomed twins G’Joe and Rega while working in Kuwait two years later. He and Mom moved to the United States shortly thereafter so that he could attend graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh. They later moved to Houston, Texas, where they welcomed their third child Jake. In addition to multiple stints in Pittsburgh and Houston, the family also lived in Greenville, South Carolina and Austin, Texas. If you knew our Dad, you knew how social he was and how much he liked to crack jokes, tell stories, and spend time with family, friends, and God. Somehow, he managed to do all of those things wherever he was. No matter where we lived, we had a church home and a house full of good food, parties, visiting relatives, and friends, both new and old, to keep things consistent.
Dad loved Mom, his children, and grandchildren deeply and cared for and protected us even after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. With the help of Mom’s faithful care, wonderful caregivers, and loving family and friends, Dad fought the disease for 16 years and we are so grateful for every second of our time with him. He is survived by his wife Lillykutty, his children G’Joe Joseph (Aimee), Rega Paulson, and Jake Joseph, and his grandchildren Caroline, Drew, Tyus, Eli, and Phin. We love you so much Dad, Rest In Peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in the name of Koshy K. Joseph.
