Kenneth Richard Robertson, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He was born in Houston on February 15, 1929 to Clyde M. Robertson, Sr. and Mary Margaret Lee. He was raised by his mother Mary and her second husband Charlie Stanton in Port Arthur. On July 3, 1949, he married the love of his life, Marolyn June Brown, and they were happily married for almost 64 years.
Ken worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 42 years, ending his career as an engineer in the Austin office. He was an active member of Central Christian Church and the Telephone Pioneers. He served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 399 back in the 60's. He loved fishing, duck hunting and the Texas Longhorns. But most of all, he loved his family with all his heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clyde Robertson, Jr. and Billy Gene Stanton. He is survived by his sisters Gladys Ann Tucker and Glenda Hyde. His is also survived by his beloved wife Marolyn, his son Kenneth (Robin), daughter-in-law Farrell, granddaughters Kaylea and Reilly, his daughter Regina Ligon, son-in-law Reid, granddaughter Amanda, her fiancé Asher McClennahan and grandson Tyler.
His family wants to thank Seton Hospital and the doctors and nurses that were so caring during his short illness, especially the ICU Unit A staff: Dr. Weingarten, Dr. Lindsey and Ken's very special nurses Kenzie, Fannie and Amanda.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Central Christian Church on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00am, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Christian Church's CWF College Scholarship Fund.
