He was born May 18, 1915 in Waco, Texas. After graduating from Tyler High School, he attended Tyler Junior College for two years studying to become an architect, a career which he pursued for various companies including Justin-Featherlite of Cedar Park, Texas, until his retirement. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, having served for five years in the United States Air Corps.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Emmett Nelson and Louie Smith and his sister Louie Woodruff and brother Robert Emmett Nelson, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McMurray Nelson, two sons, Kenneth Frank Nelson and wife Karen of Elgin, Texas and Thomas Alan Nelson and wife Gloria of Mesa, Arizona, grandchildren, Carlye Brown, Jennifer West, Garrett Nelson, and Karen Gallegos, and eight beautiful great grandchildren. Kenneth is also survived by nephews Forester Woodruff, Walter Byron Nelson and Kyle Nelson.
A memorial service celebrating Kenneth's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church, 5600 Ranch Road 620, Austin, Texas.
Interment will be private at Austin Memorial Park; Austin, Texas.
Memorials may be presented in his honor to St. Luke’s on the Lake building Fund.
