Kelvin loved learning and enjoyed his life. He loved music, cinematography and was an avid athlete. He always pushed himself beyond his limits to improve his physical strength through running and cycling. Kelvin always went to great lengths to increase his knowledge academically, culturally, socially, and spiritually.
Kelvin was a graduate of Jean Baptiste Point DuSable High School. He served in the United States Air Force (USAF) completing over 1,500 hours of specialized training in security policeman WARSKIL, precision imagery and audio-visual media maintenance, USAF Supervisory safety, high reliability soldering, MAC documentation management, applied psychology, and tactical airlift wing safety.
In March 1985, Kelvin was recognized by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Power Europe in Belgium, Germany for his outstanding performance and dedication to duty while deployed in support of the military airlift command during WINTEX-CIMEX 85.
Kelvin was a valued employee of the Texas Department of Insurance for over 30 years. Kelvin furthered his education and training by attending The American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, The American College, the Insurance Institute of America, Inc., Life Office Management Association (LOMA), and LOMA Financial Services Education. He received the following designations with honors and distinction:
Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Accredited Customer Service Representative (ASCR) (2000); Chartered Life Underwriter(CLU), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) (2001); Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Fundamentals of Life and Health Insurance (FLMI), Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) (2002); Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC), Associate, Customer Service (ACS), Associate, Insurance Agency Administration (AIAA), Associate, Annuity Products and Administration (AAPA) (2003); Associate in Reinsurance (AIR), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) (2004); Fellow, Financial Services Institute (FFSI) (2005). Associate, Insurance Services (AIS).
Kelvin is preceded in death by parents Mr. Algon Beck Sr. and Lizzi Mae Beck, brothers Algon Beck Jr. and Gregory Beck. Kelvin leaves to cherish his memory, eldest brother, Robert Beck; sister, Palmyra Sewell; three nieces, LaToya Tucker-Moore, Nicole Tucker, and LaTanya Wilson. He leaves a host of loving relatives and devoted friends.
