Katy Irene Taylor Bailey, age 91, born on May 16, 1924 to Christopher and Alice Taylor passed from this life to be with her Lord on July 24, 2015 in Katy, Texas. She was a graduate of Thrall High School class of 1941 and Durham's Business College. After graduating from Business College, Katy worked for Davidson Sash and Door until she married Chester Allen Bailey on October 16, 1943. After their marriage, Katy and Chester moved to Austin on W. 30th Street where Katy lived more than fifty years. Upon relocating to Austin, she began a lengthy career working at the Jack Stableford Pontiac dealership as a bookkeeper. Their only child, Brenda Faye Bailey was born on February 28, 1953. Katy, as devoted mother and wife, continued working and rose to the position of chief bookkeeper at the Pontiac dealership until her retirement. Katy was an active member of Rosedale Baptist Church for many years.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester; her daughter, Brenda Bailey Hartnett; her grandson and joy of her life, Christopher Dalton Hartnett; brothers C.C. Taylor and Buck Taylor; sisters Annie Taylor Brasfield Stewart and Ada Taylor Parker. Katy is survived by a few cousins, a son-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Katy was a treasure to all who knew her kind heart and quick wit.
Visitation will be at the Weed-Corley-Fish North Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1st. Graveside services will be held immediately after at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive in Austin with Reverend Jarred Parnell of Rosedale Baptist Church officiating.
