Kathryn was born March 19, 1910. She celebrated her 100th birthday three weeks before she passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on May 2, 2010. She grew up in Mart, Texas, taught primary grades in a few small Texas towns, married Emery Dixon in Houston, and raised three daughters there. The Texas Hill Country was the place Kathryn wanted to be. After the death of her husband, "Dixon," she escaped from Houston to live in Kerrville. She regularly attended the Presbyterian Church, was active in the local walking club, took classes offered through the senior center, was involved with several patriotic organizations, and enjoyed all kinds of dancing. Kathryn was focused on health through nutrition, and she freely shared her knowledge with all. Kathryn was well known in Kerrville for her participation in the Senior Games. She took the annual competitions seriously and advanced to the national level competition twice. She was proud of her countless gold metals. Her last participation in the Kerrville Senior Games was at age 98. Kathryn Kendrick Dixon had many good friends in Kerrville. She was admired for her accomplishments and her can-do spirit. Her life has been an inspiration to a great many of us. She is survived by her three daughters, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
