Davis was born Sunday, October 12, 1924 to Steve and Mary Davis in Hallsville, Texas. She was the 11th of 12 children; 6 boys and 6 girls. Katherine attended elementary at Cartersville Church of Christ. She graduated Galilee High School at the top of her class.
Katherine joined the Air Force in 1953 where she met her beloved Richard Green. She was honorably discharged at the rank of Airmen First Class in 1955. She was offered an opportunity to attend Officer Candidate School, but she chose matrimony to Richard Green instead.
While her husband was TDY, she attended Wiley College. During this time Ronnie, their one and only son was born.
Katherine Green was employed by the Federal Government as Head Librarian for 32 years at the Veterans Administration. She retired in 1984. Katherine was honored by the Top Ladies of Distinction.
She remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. While in Austin, she attended East Side Church of Christ and St. John Church of Christ. In the 1990’s she placed her membership with the Wheless Lane Church of Christ where she has been an active member to the day of her passing. She was affectionately called the “candy lady” by her family and all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Green and by 10 of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Sonny Boy {Wilma}; her son, Ronnie Green, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Wheless Lane Church of Christ, Austin, Texas. A second funeral service will be 11a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in the North Tennecha Church of Christ, 1701 North Tenneha Avenue, Tyler, Texas. The burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 1310 West NW 323 Tyler, Texas.
