Julia H. Gomez passed away peacefully with her family at her side on May 23, 2004. Julia was a strong and very kind person. She was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. She liked to joke around and make you laugh. She could be tough, she could be gentle. She will be missed. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister, three infant children and her beloved daughter Anita M. Cortez. Julia is survided by one son, Marcelino H. Monreal of Houston, TX; four daughters, Nellie Garcia and husband Lupe of Uvalde, TX, Sally Chapa, Pauline Nandin and Ruth Urias and husband Harold all of Austin TX; thirty one grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and special granddaughter Gloria Chapa. Mom you will be missed , but we will all be with you someday. We love you. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2109 E. 2nd St., Austin, TX, with Father Larry Mattingly officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tony Monreal, Richard Monreal, Eddie Chapa, Alex Cantu, Harold Urias Jr. and Steve Urias.
