A woman of compassion, devotion and faith, Judith (Judy) Reed Carpenter, 76, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015. Judy is survived by her husband, Mike Carpenter of Round Rock, TX and Mike’s sons, daughters and extended family; Son, Jeff Fogle and daughter-in-law Pearl of Austin, TX; Son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kathy Fogle of Cedar Park, TX; Son, James (Ankh) Fogle and his fiancée Mallory (Allie) Shouse of Round Rock, TX; Sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ken Stevenson of Mt. Vernon, OH; and four grandchildren: Oliver Chang, Krystal Fogle, Angela Fogle and Artemis Fogle; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, John Schutzmaier of Houston, who passed away in 1994; as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Reed of Houston, who both passed away in 2009.
Judy was born on July 18, 1939, in Terre Haute, IN, to Donald McNaughton and Verlee Zachary Reed. She grew up in Ohio, primarily in Mt. Vernon and attended Ohio State University in Columbus. As an adult, Judy enjoyed adventures and travelling. She lived across the U.S. in Dublin, CA, Suffern and Mahopac, NY, Jacksonville, FL, and Alto, New Mexico. However, she loved the great state of Texas and enjoyed 40 years residing in locales such as Houston, Austin, Lago Vista, Leander, Cedar Park and Round Rock.
Judy also had a great love of reading, sports, inspirational music, animals and nature. Her generous spirit, easy laugh, and precious love of family will be fondly remembered.
In addition to raising her 3 sons, Judy held a number of different jobs during her career. These include working in the marketing department of Memorial Hermann/Memorial City Hospital in Houston and also working at Moreland Properties in Lakeway.
A memorial service and celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 24th at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Hoehn of Hill Country Bible Church officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to visit together and share fond memories at a reception on-site immediately after the service.
Judy loved giving gifts, especially at Christmas, so in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Judy Carpenter to the Hill Country Bible Church Austin "Tree of Lights" program, which provides Christmas assistance to multiple individuals and ministries.
