Joey, our sweet angel- I think about you all the time. It's still very difficult to believe you are not here with us today. You are now with God and will forever be in our hearts. Dear Sweet Joey, it is so difficult to grasp the reality of you leaving us,  and the suddenness makes it all the more painful.  You are in my thoughts and prayers. God introduced me to Joey whatley and I accnowege a special thanks.I was blessed by joey and I was touched by joey's innocent love.I have been acquainted to few souls so blessed.I thank God for teaching me,through knowing Joey.Joey had a special love for others.thank you Joseph whatley for being to fair.

Joey, Even though our time together on earth is short compared to our time we will have in heaven, your love,  company, and laughter will be missed by so many, but never forgotten. Joseph Whatley, what a beautiful soul you are. It is pleasant to know everyone feels about you like I do and a joy to hear that the whole family believes in the resurrection. That way there is blessed assurance that we will all be together again . If  Joey could speak to us down here, he would say “don't be sad!. I am  in the light of God [in Jesus],I am surrounded by many loved ones, and I am healed.      In church Sunday I witnessed  to the people of what a pleasant person he was on earth, How I am so  blessed to have known him. I told them that I don't believe he ever knew what bad was.                   I think that if Joey had been one of the last to pass, it would have terrible for him.God's timing  is always right, even though it hurts a lot.  To the Whatley family and many loved ones read Philippians 4,8----- whatsoever things are true,honorable,right,pure, lovely and anything of good report,  THINK ON THESE THINGS. The Angel

The Angel before their time. The smile and gentleness and hugs that warms your heart.  The love is in the eyes.  Words are not necessary, just a kind touch is enough.  An Angel need not say anything; the eyes are the window to their soul, which tells all.  The pure of heart that have nothing to prove.  All the accomplishments are measured in the joy given to us.  It is the gentleness and innocence that makes us love them. The next hug becomes a fond memory.  The next adventure becomes a treasured memory.  The problem with Angels; they have to fly home and not come back.  We miss them, our hearts are broken and we wish we had one more hug from them. 

Joey, I know you are fishing and dancing with some of my favorite Angels.  I know they are holding you in their loving arms and you are happy. You have gone fishing with Granddad and are dancing with Grandmother.  I will have to wait for a while to see you again – my job here is not finished.  I look forward to the time we will hug again and hold hands again and smile again.  Until then I have the memories and love you gave to me.  As my life goes on longer and my memory becomes shorter, I will never forget you.  I promise I will try to share these great gifts of yours with others so I will earn the right to become and Angel and we can fly together again.

My sweet Joey, I miss you so much already.  I know in my heart, you are celebrating in heaven and you are a leader amongst angels.   Now and then I forget where you are and my sadness sets in.  I feel you here in this room and I look up and tell you how much I love and miss you.  
There is nothing that will replace the days when you were with me and we just hung out, did errands, lunch, grocery shopping.    You helped me carry in the groceries and in so many other ways with your strong muscles.  I am so thankful for those days with you and will always cherish them.
Joey, you were my teacher.  You taught me what LOVE is.  You were a teacher to many whose path crossed with yours, and they may not have even known it at the time.    You truly knew what love was with your pure innocence.  You only knew the positive goodness which was the pureness in your soul. 
You saw no one with disabilities.  I remember a story about you that one of your sponsors told me…You would sit with one of your buddies, who have severe cerebral palsy, and you would sit and simply hold his hand… and you knew what that meant to him with your caring heart.   How wise you were!!

My son Joesph Wayne,
We have been truly blessed for 41 years.  I remember when Joey was very young and the day I sat down with his brother and sister to tell them that Joey was different and we would need to accept him for who he was. there was no medical cure.  We had a hard time understanding why he was the way he was but would soon realize his purpose in this life was a gift.  Joey, thank you for being who you were.  Rest in peace my son, we will miss you so much. I have no doubt you have a final special gift for all of us that we will all soon see and realize.  Love you Dad

To the entire family. I had the honor of knowing Joey through Dave O. I met him several times and he was a kind and loving spirit who was always willing to help others.  It is a joy to know he is near God and resting peacefully. I thank you all for bringing him into the world and allowing him to be a friend and inspiration to us all.

We are so sorry for your loss, may God bless you all with his strength and his love and comfort. Joey, was a wonderful man who will be missed greatly. Ours prayers are with all of yall today and everyday.  Much Love, The Berkebile Family
