Joseph Marion Humphrey Joseph Marion Humphrey, age 102, of Austin, formerly of Lubbock, died on November 11, 2007. He was born on May 6, 1905, to Joseph Tildon Humphrey and Maggie Moore Roden Humphrey in Avoca, Texas. Marion was a member of University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin and Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock. His interests revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren, gardening, fishing and playing dominoes and 42. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Erma Lee Osborn Humphrey; brother, William Chessler; brother, Alva Crocket; sister, Frances Helen Humphrey Neal Swenson; grandchild, Sharon Rose Humphrey; and son-in-law, Norman Ray Davis. Marion is survived by his children, Maggie Sue Humphrey Davis of Elysian Fields; Joseph Lee and Jackie Marie Hance Humphrey of Austin, and Marion Patricia and Reese McBroom of Lubbock; sister-in-law, June Osborn Reid of Stamford, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at University Avenue Church of Christ with Minister Dean Smith of Austin and Riley Turner of Lubbock officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset International Bible Institute, Lubbock Children’s Home, or a charity of your choice.
